Your body is very important and you have to be aware of how it works. There are many different types of body systems in your body and all of them have a role in helping you function well in everyday activities. The image on top shows all your major body systems.
Every part of your body is used to complete everyday tasks. From your brain to your toes, we use it all. Without all crucial parts we might not even be able to function and therefore, live. The most important organ in your body is your brain. You use it from everything you do. From moving to talking, without our brains, we wouldn’t be called the “intelligent life form”. Our brain is complex and works in many different ways. It’s amazing what an organ that size could do. Your brain has different sections with different functions. You use the left side of your brain when you talk and the right side for your artistic activities. Your brain doesn’t work all at once, that’s why it’s hard to do things like “rub your stomach clockwise and pat your head”. When you learn, your brain analyzes the information and compares it with things you learned in your past. That’s why, if you keep practicing new things you learned, you’ll know it more and you’ll be able to do it without struggle. Your brain also stores memory, which is something that everyone values. Without memory, you won’t be able to remember where you left your homework or even where you live. Your brain is the result of your face expression and your body language. When you are angry or sad, your brain is the culprit of revealing your feelings.
Your eyes and ears are your sight and hearing, they’re also very important so take good care of them! There are many things that can decrease the accuracy of your hearing and sight. The ear is complex and learning how it works is too. Things like listening to too loud music and working in a noisy place can greatly affect your hearing. You can do a variety of things to decrease these events. Don’t try to block out other noises by increasing another noise. For example, when someone is vacuuming, don’t turn up the sound on the TV just to tune out the noise, that’ll make things even worse. Just bear it for a moment longer because by doing this, you’re slowly damaging your ears.

In my case, I do this a lot. I turn on my iPod to the maximum it’ll go just to tune out other people’s bickering or just because I’m too lazy to turn it down. Now, that I learned more about hearing and what not to do to decrease hearing, I’ll turn it down. I used to always tune out other annoying sounds by turning up another sound, I realized that I was slowly damaging my eardrums by doing these things. I could have just left the room or the place where I was in to decrease the amount of sound that would reach me because noises are loudest at the source.
It’s also very important to preserve your sight. How we see is affected by many things. As you grow older, your eyesight might worsen because of repeated times of reading in the dark or watching movies too close to the screen. Gradual reduction of eyesight might be the cause of bright sunlight, UV exposure, or eye injuries. Vision can be corrected by many things, glasses, laser eye surgery, operations and many more. Some kids already need glasses when their toddlers because genetics also affects your eye sight and how well you see. There are so many different eye problems because the eye is so complex and so sensitive. Try this vision to test your eyesight.
Directions: if the blue bar measures 10 cm across, stand 10 feet away from the screen.

I don’t take good care of my eyes either, though I make an effort at it. I often read in the dark, again because of the “lazy” factor. I didn’t really think that it affected my eyesight because I still was able to see the words on the page and that was good enough for me. I also used to watch the TV close up to the screen but I found out that that affects your eyesight too. Even being on the computer for long periods of time in a dark room and close up to the screen is bad for your eyesight, so if you’re doing either of both of these things right now, I suggest you change your position and turn on the lights because everyone wants to maintain a good and healthy eyesight. Treat them right and you won’t regret it!
